Circumferential Seam Fit Up and Welding Station

Nicknamed the “Gator” due to its similarity both in looks and the mechanical workings of the jaws of an alligator, our Circumferential Seam Fit Up and Welding Station is the largest of its kind in North America.

The Gator is used to manipulate the circumferential joints of the shell sections to the most accurate fit up position achievable. After the precise alignment has been achieved, submerged arc welding can commence.

The hydraulic ram capability of the Gator, has eliminated the need for the invasive “dog and wedge” technique, providing superior quality and increased productivity.
