We are seeking a self-motivated and driven individual to fill our Safety Coordinator position, reporting to Dacro Head Office Safety Department. As a team player you will be expected to advise and assist in the implementation and management of the Health & Safety management system
As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development, administration, and promotion of safety and occupation health related programs and processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with applicable health & safety laws, standards, best practices and our company policies, & procedures
- Maintain an active, visible presence using open communication to provide support and guidance in all aspects related to safety matters
- Conduct onboarding (orientation) for new employees and external personnel, updating employee files and databases, track training records to ensure individuals are current as per position requirements
- Respond to incidents including near misses and first aid; performing first aid, ensuring first aid room has adequate supplies. Leading incident investigations working with supervision to determine root cause, and corrective actions. Providing continual support to personnel who are performing modified work
- Conduct monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings maintaining agenda, meeting minutes and follow-up on corrective actions; conduct worksite inspections with HSC
- Delivery of safety meetings for multiple shifts
- Continual upkeep for a variety of databases; incidents, action log, policy/procedure/SWP reviews, orientation/training, security and rigging
- Conduct yearly site emergency drills
- Arrange for safety equipment inspections of fire extinguishers, rigging, fall protection, etc
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and rigging inventory using Dacro’s databases
- Verifying corrective actions are implemented
- Participate in the review and/or assist in development of SWP/JHA/HA, as required
- Implement or recommend disciplinary actions where non-compliance is observed
- Sustain security protocols for company yard and facilities

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in health and safety role, preferable experience working in an industrial/manufacturing sector
- Post secondary Degree or Diploma in OH&S or related discipline, NCSO designation
- Incident investigation experience, training
- Proficiency in computer and information technology skills, including MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe). Ability to format documents.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; public transportation is not available to this area.
- Standard first aid certification.
Schedule:
- Full time, permanent opportunity
- Monday to Friday, 30 hours; with ability to accommodate unforeseen circumstances
- Able to work outside of regular business hours to respond to emergency situations

Overview
Established in 1974, Dacro Industries Inc. is a leading custom fabricator of pressure vessels for the resource industries. We have unique capabilities for mechanical design and fabrication of pressure vessels with large diameter, heavy wall, complex geometry, and unique materials.
Welders at Dacro are trained to meet the unique requirements of the vessels we build. We have specialized training for welders which includes both theory and hands on components. The goal is to develop each welder to meet their potential. We are currently working on projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Hydrogen, Bio-Diesel, and Carbon Capture. We are looking for welders in both our Edmonton and Tofield locations.
Compensation Details
- Welder compensation is highest of industry segment
- 5% Statutory Holiday pay
- 4% Vacation pay
- Hourly RRSP Contributions (after 60 days employment)

Reporting Relationships
All positions will report directly to the applicable Production Foreman.
Overall Scope of the Positions
The B Welder is responsible for completing the integral welds of a pressure vessel within tolerances and as per weld procedures specified. The B Welder uses multiple welding processes to complete the weld joints.
The Journeyman is responsible for completing non-pressure welds as well as assisting in other areas consistent with his experience and training. The Journeyman may have the opportunity to gain a welding certification based on aptitude.
The Apprentice is responsible for assisting in and completing all types of activities under the direction and supervision of a Journeyman. The Apprentice may have the opportunity to gain a welding certification based on aptitude.
Skills Required or Developed
The following qualifications are desirable to ensure success in this position.
Alberta B-Pressure certificate required (B-Pressure Welder)
- Valid Journeyman Trade Certificate recognized in the province of Alberta (Journeyman Welder)
- Enrollment in an accredited apprenticeship training program (Apprentice Welder)
- SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW welding
- Operating overhead crane
- Operating forklift, elevated work platform
- Reading fabrication drawings
- Rigging
- Fitting
